Requirements for Service Learning

In order to receive a Maryland State High School Diploma each student must engage in 75 hours of service-learning at a minimum.  All students who attend Cecil County Public Schools (CCPS) will meet the required hours by successfully completing four service-learning projects that are integrated into the curriculum.  The projects are completed in grades 6, 7, 8, and 9   

Grade Six: The Environment and You - Students participate in a teacher directed project that focuses on improving the environment.

Grade Seven: Food for Thought - Students focus on promoting positive nutrition and focus on hunger and homelessness in the community

Grade Eight: Saving the Past for the Future - Students explore history and create projects to preserve historical information and artifacts.
